What needs
doing?

Each job below is done start to finish, from preparing and filing a return to dealing with HMRC when it writes to you. Not sure which one you need? Ring us and we’ll work it out with you.

Accounts & bookkeeping

Receipts piling up and a year end coming?

We’ll ask for your bank statements, sales and receipts, then keep your books up to date through the year. At the year end we prepare your accounts. For a limited company we file them at Companies House, usually due nine months after the year end, and we’ll give you your exact date. For a sole trader or partnership, the figures go on your tax return.

  • Bookkeeping, kept up to date through the year
  • Year-end accounts prepared and filed
  • Filing at Companies House for limited companies
  • Management accounts during the year
Ask us about your books

HMRC letters & checks

Had a letter from HMRC?

Send us a copy of the letter, plus any earlier letters about the same thing. We’ll tell you what it means and the date you need to act by. Once you’ve authorised us, we deal with HMRC for you, by phone and in writing, until the check ends. Already partway through a check? You can still come to us.

  • HMRC letters explained, with the date you need to act by
  • Self Assessment, Corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE checks
  • Telling HMRC about income it doesn’t know about, including the Let Property Campaign for landlords
  • Appeals against decisions and penalties
  • Payment plans if you can’t pay in one go

Corporation & Capital Gains Tax

Running a company, or sold property or shares?

  • Corporation Tax returns prepared and filed
  • How much Corporation Tax to pay, and the date it’s due
  • Capital Gains Tax worked out and reported
  • Capital Gains Tax on UK residential property reported and paid within 60 days of completion

Taking on your first employee?

We’ll ask for each new starter’s details and how often you pay them, then run payroll every pay day. We’ll tell you what to pay HMRC and by when, and send each employee a P60 after the tax year ends.

  • Payroll run every pay day
  • Payslips for your staff
  • RTI submissions to HMRC on or before each pay day
  • P60s at the end of the tax year
  • Workplace pension auto-enrolment

Send us your sales and purchase records for the period. We prepare your VAT return and file it with HMRC under Making Tax Digital. The return and any payment are due one month and seven days after the period ends.

  • The amount to pay or reclaim, and the date it’s due

Company formation

Going from sole trader to limited company?

We’ll ask for the company name, who the directors and shareholders are, and each director’s Companies House personal code, then set the company up. After that, we keep it in order, from company secretarial work to your confirmation statement each year.
